Classical Vocal Arts For Children (CVAC)
About Our Program
MORE Opera’s “Classical Vocal Arts for Children” (CVAC) is a music appreciation and chorus training program open to all students aged 6-14. CVAC provides children with the opportunity to explore music and expand their musical skills. Participants learn to sing vocal classics and opera, are introduced to the rudiments of vocal technique, ear training and language arts, and perform in concerts and outreach programs to promote vocal arts and cultural enrichment.
Opera singer and teaching artist Cheryl Warfield will work with students of all musical levels to develop their vocal skills, musical expressiveness and chorus preparation.
MORE Opera actively seeks children from diverse backgrounds and offers the opportunity to experience musical excellence in a multicultural environment. Through music and choral singing, our participants develop relationships that enrich their lives while benefiting their families and the community.
CVAC is presented on Manhattan's Upper West Side in collaboration with Performing Arts Saturdays! at the Bernie Wohl Community Center, 647 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10024.
For more information contact Susan Macaluso – 212-799-9400, ext. 205 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Prospective participants may sign up to join anytime by attending a rehearsal. A requisite number of rehearsals must be attended to participate in performances. Vocally proficient participants may be invited to join MORE Opera children’s chorus
CVAC prepares participants to perform classical and traditional music genres, including songs of patriotism and opera. Our programs reflect our diverse community. We provide music and performance experiences for all children regardless of prior musical experience and training.
